Volumetry versus linear diameter lung nodule measurement; an ultra-low-dose CT Lung Cancer Screening Study

چکیده
Backgraund: the Dutch-Belgium randomised lung cancer screening trial (NELSON) used a volume-based protocol, and was able to significantly reduce prevalence of false positive results (2.1%). The aim this study compare performance manual linear diameter semi-automated volumetric nodule measurement, in MLCS ultra-LDCT pilot study.
Aims: volume measurements Russian low-dose CT (LDCT) program.
Materials methods: all two-hundred ninety-three individuals with at least 4 mm on their baseline Moscow between February 2017 2018, without verified diagnosis until 2020, were included. Radiation dose selected individually did not exceed one mSv. All scans assessed by three blinded readers measure maximum minimum transversal extrapolated volume. As reference value size we took average obtained from expert measurements. A false-positive defined as 6mm/100mm3. false-negative 6mm/100mm3.
 Results: 293 patients included (166 men, mean age 64.6 5.3years). 199 nodules 6mm/100mm3 94 For measurements; 32 [10.9%; FP 4, FN 28], 29 [9.9%; 17 FP, 12 FN], 30 [10.2%; 6 24 FN] discrepancies reported reader 1, 2 3 respectively. 92 [65.5%; 107 85 146 [49.8%; 58 88 102 [34.8%; 23 79 respectively.
Conclusions: Use volumetry strongly reduces number compared measurements, an program.

Lung nodule measurements made with CT imaging are used in clinical practice to assess size changes estimated from serial scans obtained over time to predict the likelihood of malignancy and to monitor the tumor response to treatment. 2 Size measurements need to be accurate and consistent to enable the assessment of nodule changes in a short time interval. Th e precision and accuracy of volume m...
متن کاملScreening for lung cancer with low-dose CT scans.
Lung cancer represents the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the world. In the past, many attempts were made to detect the disease at an early stage and subsequently reduce its mortality. Chest X-ray was abandoned for this purpose. For several years low-dose computed tomography has been introduced as a potential tool for early screening in a high-risk population. As demonstrated in s...
متن کاملScreening for lung cancer using low dose CT scanning.
BACKGROUND Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer related death in Ireland. The majority of lung cancers are inoperable at the time of diagnosis and consequently the overall 5 year survival is less than 10%. The objective of the ProActive Lung Cancer Detection (PALCAD) study was to evaluate whether low dose chest computed tomographic scanning (LDCCT) can detect early stage asymptomatic ...
